How Bandits Killed Vice Principal After Abducting 25 Schoolgirls in Kebbi

Heavily armed bandits on Sunday night invaded the Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, abducting at least 25 schoolgirls and killing the school’s vice principal.

According to an eyewitness, the attackers stormed the school in large numbers and opened fire indiscriminately before gaining access to the premises. He said several unidentified bodies were also sighted within the school compound during the aftermath of the assault.

“They came in mass numbers at night and began shooting sporadically before gaining entry into the school,” the source said.

He added that an Air Force fighter jet was seen hovering over the community around 8 a.m. on Monday, while security operatives cordoned off the area in the wake of the attack.

Spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying a tactical team had been deployed to commence the rescue operation.

He assured that efforts were underway to ensure the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, remained committed to ending the activities of bandits in the region.
